University furniture project at UNED Girona.
Today we present our project carried out for the UNED Girona campus; this project is not new, as it is currently completed and operational, but we would like to highlight it as a job where the right and successful decisions were made.
It was a significant challenge for us that one of the country’s most prestigious higher education centers commissioned us for the furniture installation; the challenge was great, but our enthusiasm was even greater.
Therefore, we could only choose to work with reliable, versatile, and highly multi-purpose furniture, as an educational center has an intense flow of people, where material quality is tested 365 days a year.
This logic led us to choose the Aki chair by Benjo Seating (Teb Design), an elegant design that addressed not only aesthetics, functionality, and durability but also versatility. One of its main features is its stackability: up to 45 chairs, a quality offered only by a very specific type of chair like this one. Additionally, it features a wheeled transport trolley as an accessory, where they can be stacked and stored in a single row.
The library space was equipped with the Bí-blica shelving by IDUNA EDITORS, featuring glass doors, complemented by PV series metal cabinets and wheeled drawer units from JG GROUP. Bí-blica is a robust shelving system made of sheet steel with extruded aluminum profiles and grooved panels. It is configurable with various elements: in this particular case, height-adjustable shelves and lockable glass doors. The closed cabinets follow this same philosophy, ensuring the preservation of all bibliographic content.
As the space is transformed and details are finalized, the appropriate type of table for each area is defined. Multi-purpose rooms are the domain of the 2Move table with wheels and a folding top, while Adapta Plus, with a square-section steel structure, is used for permanent workspaces—two table programs from JG GROUP.
2Move is characterized by being a folding table that solves space issues when not in use; it can be easily stacked horizontally, making it ideal for a multi-purpose room.
Adapta Plus, on the other hand, is the ideal table for permanent workstations; this type of electrified table can be configured into work benches or used for meeting rooms. Ultimately, we are talking about an element prepared both aesthetically and functionally for constant work.
Thus, having reached the culmination of the project, we are left with the modest feeling of having made the right decisions, of having been fortunate enough to succeed, and of having generated a positive memory that will recharge our batteries when needed, allowing us to continue writing another chapter of our history.
